The “Society and Justice Initiative,” a civil political project working toward the establishment of a national political party based on justice and the rule of law, is closely following the public reception of Nawaf Ragheb Al‑Bashir in Deir Ezzor and the widespread public anger surrounding the event.
We believe that building a new Syria cannot be achieved through the reintegration of controversial figures into public life without legal, political, and societal review—especially while thousands of victims and affected families continue to suffer from the consequences of war.
We call on the relevant judicial and official authorities to pursue transparent and fair accountability processes regarding anyone proven to have participated in or supported armed formations or violations against Syrians, within the framework of law and transitional justice.
Justice is not an act of revenge; it is a necessary foundation for genuine national reconciliation and for building a state based on human dignity and the rule of law.
